Each year, William & Mary has hosted the Graduate Research Symposium (GRS) for all graduate students from local universities including UVA, Virginia Tech, ODU, and more. This year was the first in person meeting since 2019. The symposium was expanded this year to include William & Mary honors undergraduate researchers and is now called the Graduate & Honors Research Symposium (GRHS). GHRS is a great opportunity for us to share and generate excitement around our work with collogues in the area. The nano & bio materials lab had two graduate students present at GRHS. In the morning session titled, “Smallville: Understanding Microscopic Matter”, Ben Skopic presented in on, “Self-strengthening Tape Junctions Inspired by Recluse Spider Webs”. Later in the day, Avishi Abeywickrama gave a talk on, “Direct Measurements of Surface Interactions between 2D Materials and Polymers” in the “Structures: Particle & Material” session.
