This past week, current Ph. D. candidate Ben Skopic and Dr. Hannes Schniepp traveled to Anaheim, CA to attend the TMS 2022 meeting. Hannes' first talk titled, “Diatom Frustules: Universal Building Blocks for Novel Multi-functional Materials” was on Monday Feb. 2 in the Biological Materials symposium. The duo's second talk was live streamed in the Biological Materials symposium on the morning of Wednesday Mar. 2. This talk, delivered by Ben Skopic, was titled, “Bioinspired Self-Strengthening Tape Junctions.” The third and final talk, later that afternoon in the BioNano Interfaces and Engineering Applications symposium, was given by Hannes Schniepp and titled, “Reverse Engineering Spider Silk by Disassembly and Assembly.”
Anaheim, a suburb of Los Angeles, was located just north of a famous surfing beach, Huntington Beach. Outside of scheduled conference time, Ben Skopic was able to enjoy the nice Californian sand and sun!
