We have shown that adding a small amount of graphene oxide into polyamide-11 significantly reduces the degree of degradation via hydrolysis, one of the most common processes leading to embrittlement and failure of polymers. The aging of the plastics was significantly reduced when we added as little as 0.1% of the graphene nanoparticles. Important potential applications of this idea are in off-shore oil recovery, where failing polyamide flow lines on the ocean floor can cause significant damage and are extremely expensive to replace. **
